I called. Yes, they are open for dine in.
I would assume that because it's a small local mom and pop establishment that they aren't big into the whole big corporation attitude. They like to keep things personsl and make sure they get that one on one face time with their customers which I personally enjoy. Also most of their customers are in there 60s and 70s or older and since that's their biggest customer base they probably dont see the point of the online thing since a LOT of that generation isnt technology savvy
Yes.
Soup of the day usually
They ususally have fried chicke n
Dress nicely and visit in person to ask if there are openings.
Yes...we actually reserved the back room for a luncheon memorial service. Not too bad in the evenings. Great staff!
I wouldn't say unethical, but it is a little higher. This is why you should always read the entire discretion on the menu. I can't say for sure because I don't often eat there. I am there often for meetings. I am pretty sure that they have to mention at the end of the description that topping cost extra.
Salads too!
No drinking of alcohol, good shakes, best tea in town!!
Wish I could be positive, but...had to cancel my order due to long prep time. It was a salad.
I have been dying to try this family restaurant because my daughter recommends it. And they helped me with my food. I can't have anything fried. And they have great prices and services.I am so impressed. Food was really good. Staff is awesome.I was disappointed thus time. My family and I came here for my birthday. They were little busy. No one said hello. We seated ourselves. We waited about 20 min without anyone ever coming to our table to even offer drinks. Last time we received awesome service. We finally got tired of waiting and left. No one ever said anything. I had time to crochet one bud that takes me 20 min to complete. That is how I know how long we sat. Plus I looked over the menue. So maybe longer then 20 min total.
My mom took us there on 12/11/19, my dad, uncle, my mom and myself, after my dad had his procedure/surgery done earlier that day. My dad wanted to go here, for comfort food after going 24+ hours without eating. It was fabulous, deliciously good food! Two of us ordered the 6oz sirloin steak with steak fingers (HUGE!!) with veggies, which was perfectly cooked and seasoned excellently, and cabbage and corned beef soup, which rivaled my mom's home made soup!! The other 2 ordered 2 catfish plates with various different sides and it was ALL YUMMYLICIOUS! I totally recommend this place to everyone. The prices were awesome and extremely fair for the amount and quality of food we received! The lady who served us was especially compassionate and patient with us. The whole experience was top notch and we will be back!!
This used to be a GREAT place to go, but recently service has declined. I realize because of the pandemic, precautions need to be taken. I understand the restaurant was closing at 9pm due to said pandemic... EXCEPT the server that taped the notice to the door walked right past us with no acknowledgement and no one ever came to the table. So sad because I've missed thier food the last couple years
I went there for a poetry open mic event that they have on the third Friday of every month and I only ordered desert, and let me tell you, what an amazing homemade coconut pie that was.
The food there is great but hope you're hungry because it's plenty. Lol.
Quick and friendly hostesses. The ladies there were polite and courteous. We had a family lunch and were definitely satisfied leaving.
Their hand battered chicken fried steak is the best I've ever had. And their biscuits and gravy are to die for....
Great service, great food. Friendly.
Love eating here. It's friendly and family oriented, food price is affordable! Love thier Fridays all you can eat fried fish!
I use to love this place YEARS ago, but gravitated away since their food was in decline. So it's been about 5 years since I've been there, but now? I've been there twice in the past month. Their catfish dinner, my partner ordered each time. It's good, better most other restaurants, good portions. I don't like catfish & I thought it was good. All the sides were good tasting, the side salad is basic, but good. I always enjoy their corn muffins, an he likes the rolls that come with dinner. I ordered a pop pie dinner the 1st time and it was ok. Next time I ordered the French dip, LOTS of real beef, nice crusty roll & great dipping broth! And I miss ordering tater tots instead of fries at other restaurants, so that's a plus! Their desserts are good (cobblers/pies) and won't break the bank, I think under $3. It's a nice little family diner, worth a try.
Super awesome family business. Great food. Thanks for the great service Kimmie!!!
Ordered a pepsi and they give a huge glass of ice and 2 cans!Very quick service. Servings are very big (Hot beef, potatoes and gravy)chicken noodle soup and all under $10.they have 4 large rooms for serving.
always awesome... tiny pancake.. lol
Fabulous home style cooking, great wait staff (Crystal is the bomb!), ambiance is like eating at home... only someone else does the cooking and cleaning! My parents eat there so often they jokingly refer to it as Mary's (my mom) Kitchen. I would definitely recommend it to everyone.
Good ol homestyle food with friendly service and clean.
The restaurant staff is really nice and comes around often to check on you. The catfish and coleslaw was extremely good. Some of the other food we had was ok. I will probably come again since I enjoyed the fish and the service.
Waitresses were very kind and intent to make us happy thank you for service and the food was very good.
I eat there a lot, been going there for years. Great home cooked style food, friendly service, and reasonable prices.
Everyone kept telling us to eat here and we kept putting it off. I regret not coming here sooner. Best home cooked like meal I've had hands down. You WILL not regret one thing about eating here, plus it has the perfect small town diner atmosphere with a big time taste!
Loved the cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, great food!!
Lil Tex is an excellent old fashioned diner. The staff is friendly, and there is a large menu. I especially like their breakfast, fried cabbage, chicken fried steak, and soup. Don't get the barbecue.
Took friends visiting. Had outlaw's last request plates and had so much got doggie bags. Not crowded at all. Around 1:30p.
The food was delicious! They were extremely busy Sunday afternoon so I expected a bit of a wait after ordering. I was pleasantly surprised.
Great food and very friendly staff 👌
Super friendly staff. This is an awesome cafe. Large portions without a large price tag.
MY RATING WOULD DEFINITELY HAVE BEEN HIGHER PRIOR TO THE COVID SHUTDOWN. AFTER OPENING BACK UP THERE QUALITY OF FOOD HAS BEEN BAD! Find new cooks.
Draws a loyal local crowd. Nothin' fancy, come as you are. My meals have always been very good with generous portions and friendly service.
They are friendly. Food is good. The prices are reasonable
Ate here August 11, 2020 food was affordable but it was a lengthy wait to order and receive food.
This is comfort food personified. The girls are awesome and treat you like family. Always a friendly hearing when you enter. This is my go to place when I have a bad day and don't want to cook.
MMMMMMAAAANNNN.......I love this place. To old decor to the waitresses to the food. They serve only comfort food and it is fantastic. Try the chicken fried steak.
My wife, daughter, and I went here for breakfast this morning. To be bluntly honest the restaurant it self was surprisingly big. When we arrived the parking lot was full and I was afraid it was going to be packed, but there was plenty of seating and the waitresses were extremely nice. My wife and I were however, disappointed when my chicken fried steak and eggs came out (my wife and I got the same thing). I was expecting hand made steak and fresh made home fries, but the steak was frozen and the home fries tasted like they were rehydrated potato slices (like the boxed scalloped potatoes). The eggs were extremely fresh and everything I was looking for in an egg. My daughter ordered the strawberry pancakes and they looked amazing. Even though everything was not up to my expectations the food was good and the place had that small country town feel. We will be back, the service was outstanding, thank you!!!
Food is great... fresh, hot off the grill and always as ordered. Staff is professional *and* attentive *and* personable every time. Love coming to Lil' Tex 'cause it's like coming home... except Mom isn't nagging you about taking out the trash! I also love that they now do breakfast all day. Highly recommend!
Pattymelt sucks and they forgot our cakes . Timing was terrible. 30 minutes for our food to be at the table. But the chicken fried steak always good.
Absolutly perfect service with an amazing selection for a great price. Definitely a home town Deep South feel
Absolutely love this place. Best food in Killeen and Cove. Great prices and portions. They treat you like family.
I'm sure everyone has their favorite waitress here. Ours is Crystal. She gets the orders right and makes sure the kitchen has them right before she brings it out. Great food as everybody that lives here knows.
I’ve loved eating here for a few years now but lately there seems to be an emphasis on ordering your food from the cheapest places you can find vs taking time to make a better product. Most people would pay more to actually be able to eat food they order. I have never in my life sent back biscuits anywhere until at your establishment a few weeks ago. So then I order rye toast and this comes out hard. I thought maybe it was a fluke but when I ordered it tonight I asked for it to be lightly toasted...again hard. It’s as if it’s baked in the oven and crunchy as crotons. Don’t order toast or biscuits! Owner and cooks should have more pride in what is being served!
Good home cooked meals. Always friendly and fast service.
Nothing fancy, just good homestyle cooking. The portions are great for the price. Service is variable, the more full the joint, and the service gets a little slower.
Come in, sit down, be prepared for friendly service, and a ton of home cooked food. The prices are very reasonable and they have a great selection to pick from. The portions are huge so you are likely to leave presently full. They make the food just like home cooking and if that's your desire... you came to the right place. Pay at the register when you are done and add your tip to your payment.
My husband and I love this place! Delicious food, great service, and reasonable prices!
I am amazed this restaurant stays open. We tried it again today. Big mistake! There is NO standards at this place. If you don't care how food is presented or cooked then give it more stars... I read the reviews...The food isn't fit for anyone to eat. Just look at the pictures. While waiting, four different customers returned their food as it was either wrong or didn't taste good. We couldn't eat our food. Copperas Cove needs good restaurants, but Lil Tex could care less about good food and appropriate standards. They don't listen to constructive criticism or make any adjustments to correct what is wrong.
Great food. From Texmex to country cooking. Inexpensive and large portions.
I love you guys so much!Service is incredibly important to me and they are always perfect! They make you feel like you have been invited into their home for an amazing meal! The food will make you feel like your dojng something naughty and should be hiding out while you stuff your face.1st was the family bbq meal deal...We are fatties and we took 3 days + to finish it.This time i got the hot roast beef n mash potatoes and gravy with green beans and my Husband got the double burger with extra fries...Im in a foid coma and not even sure how the heck im able to write this review right now...Holy mother!YOU ALL ARE MADE FROM TEARS OF ANGELS!To the people who write these horrible things about the staff or food just want free food! Its ok, if i could be adopted by lil tex i would sell my soul!God bless you all Lil-tex!
Service and food were great!
The staff is very friendly but too busy. I asked for steak and eggs with hash browns from the house special section. She asked if i wanted anything with the hash browns. I asked for Louisiana hotsauce and we had a pleasant conversation about her being from Louisiana. I received ham and eggs and had to send it back. Never got the hotsauce and could not eat my hashbrowns. Hashbrowns got cold before I could get her attention. My suggestion is to slow down and take care of one table at a time so as to not make these mistakes. I did leave a $7 tip on a $21 bill because she was still very nice! We may not go back though!
Great prices, home cooked meals, good portions! The staff is great, we have a couple waitresses that are our favorites that we always look for when we come in. Lots of seating so even when they are busy you can usually find a table. This is a hot spot for the locals! We often see people walking from table to table saying hi to all their friends. Overall very down to earth atmosphere and friendly small town faces! They have specials every day, our favorite is the all you can eat chicken fried steaks (we never make it past one steak!) and when they have the cobbler for dessert!
